They are excellent for expanding numeracy skills. Small children have very inquisitive heads and there are intellectual learning opportunities around every corner through the day-to-day activities that may be advertised by questioning, such as "what do you consider we do next".

Role-play is an outstanding way to develop sociable skills in a safe environment, children can explore different jobs in different settings; for example, a post office could be setup where children have to connect to each other as customer and staff.
