Receiving a prototype

The manufacturer, having spent time and money on the product development process, should make sure that the results achieved meet the established requirements. This requires actions such as analysis, verification (verification), and evaluation (validation). The indicated actions are shown in Fig. 5.1.

Analysis is used to verify the implementation of the development plan and involve key stakeholders in the development process. An analysis can be considered a general overview of the process. It can include reports on the performance of work, information on the capabilities of equipment and personnel, information about the availability of resources.

Validation is used to confirm that the development output matches the input data. Verification is carried out within the framework of acceptance tests.

For example, in the food industry, they can include:

• laboratory tests (chemical, physical and microbiological analyzes);

• organoleptic tests (testing of taste characteristics);

• Packaging tests;

• testing in controlling bodies.

A number of new types of potential hazardous products (food, cosmetics) are tested for safety in the framework of the state registration system. This system provides: conducting quality and safety expertise; the entry of products and their producers into the State Register of Products authorized for manufacturing or importation into the country and free sale; issuance of certificates of state registration of products to applicants. The organization and conduct of state registration of the above products is vested in the federal executive authority for state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance.

Evaluation (validation) is the process of verifying that the products received, when used, can meet or indeed meet the expectations of the consumer.

This is the final stage of the product development process, which is designed to prevent serious financial losses due to the supply of products that do not meet the established requirements.

Evaluation may include marketing or operational tests.

An example of marketing tests is the invitation of special groups of consumers for tasting, questioning consumers.

For some types of products, a final evaluation is not possible until they are tested in real operating conditions (an experienced car run, an experienced shoe toe).

The last element of the development process is project change management. You need to record, analyze and approve all project changes that may be a consequence:

• changes in technical conditions introduced by the consumer;

• market requirements for product improvement or even its replacement by an alternative;

• The conducted analysis of the project;

• actions for verification and validation of the project.

The evaluation of the completed design and the decision to place new products on production is carried out by the acceptance committee, which includes representatives of the customer (the main consumer), the developer, the manufacturer. To assess the final product intended for the external market, the commission includes the representative of the organization responsible for export. If necessary, experts from outside organizations may be involved in the work of the commission, as well as bodies that oversee the safety, health and nature protection.

Based on the results of the submitted materials, the commission draws up an act in which it indicates:

1) the conformity of the developed products to the specified requirements and recommendations for its production (delivery to the consumer);

2) the results of evaluating the technical level of products;

3) remarks and suggestions for finalizing the products.

The act of the acceptance committee is approved by its chairman.

Approving the act means the end of the development process; Termination of TK; harmonization of the submitted regulatory and operational documents; permission to produce and use products.

In accordance with (2.47), the system of development and production of light industry products has its own characteristics.

Approbation of the pilot batch of products is carried out in the shops of branded trade with the purpose of forming and studying the demand for newly developed products. If necessary, for the sewing, knitwear and shoes are experienced sock. When using new types of synthetic raw materials and materials, they are coordinated with the health authorities for their application.

Based on the results of approbation and experienced wearing of newly developed products, the developer decides on the submission (non-submission) of samples to the artistic and technical council (CTU) of the enterprise for approval as model samples. Based on the results of consideration of the submitted materials, the KhTS approves sample templates with confection maps and maps (albums) of labels and recommends them for production.

The reference sample is designed to compare with it the output of products for artistic and aesthetic indicators when it is put into production, manufacturing and quality acceptance.
