Lab 1: Create, Resource, Process, and Schedule Modules

Objective: to develop a simulation model according to the variant of the task. Learn how to work with the Create, Resource, Process and Schedule modules.

Procedure:

1. In PP ARENA, develop a model according to your option.

2. After copying the * .doe file from Lab 1 to the new file, make the changes using the Schedule module.

3. Prepare a report.

Option 1

Item 1. The computer running the process control system receives data from the sensors every 8 seconds. Data processing is performed using RAM [lasts 14 seconds, requires 2 conditional units of RAM (which is released after processing)] and hard disk [lasts 17 seconds, requires 3 conditional units of hard disk]. In total there are 5 units of RAM and 6 conventional units of the hard disk in the system. Model the work of the system for processing 100 jobs.

Change the initial conditions for the receipt of data: 3 sets of data from sensors come simultaneously. Simulate the operation of the system for 3 hours.

Step 2: Using the resulting model and copied to the new file, make the following changes using the Schedule module.

Data is sent to the computer every 20 minutes. The amount of incoming data is determined by the following set:

{1,5,3, 3,4, 5, 6,3,3}.

Option 2

Item 1. The data processing system, once every 4 seconds, consists of three specialized devices that sequentially process incoming data packets. Devices are used to process data for 1, 3, and 2 memory units (which is released after processing), the first and third devices also require 4 and 5 units of the recording device. Total in the system 5 units of RAM and 600 units of the recorder. Processing on the first device takes 10 seconds, on the second - 3 seconds, and on the third - 8 seconds.

Model the operation of the system to process 200 data packets.

Change the initial conditions for the receipt of the data: 2 data packets arrive simultaneously. Simulate the operation of the system for 1 hour.

Step 2. Using the resulting model and copied to the new file, make the following changes using the Schedule module.

Data is sent to the computer every 3 minutes. The number of incoming data packets is determined by the following set: {2, 1, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 6, 3, 3, 2, 5, 3, 6, 7.4, 2, 1, 5}.

Option 3

Item 1. A databank consists of two machines that are connected to vaults, the contents of which are synchronized. Every car receives a request every 5 seconds. The processing of the request consists of two steps: searching for the requested data (9 seconds) and sending them (11 seconds). The search takes 3 conventional units of RAM (which is released) for each of the machines (7 units of RAM are installed on the machines), and exclusive access to the storage. The data query requires 5 conventional units of RAM, but does not require exclusive access to the storage.

Model the processing of 100 requests.

Change the initial conditions for the receipt of requests: 3 queries simultaneously arrive. " Simulate the system for an hour.

Step 2. Using the resulting model and copied to the new file, make the following changes using the Schedule module.

Requests for each machine come in 0 (100 requests) and 0:30 hours (75 requests).

Option 4

Item 1. Network storage consists of two hard drives and one tape drive. At the input of each device, data packets of 5 conventional units are entered every 3 seconds, which must be recorded. Hard drives have a capacity of 500 conventional units, and a tape drive - 200 conventional units. The process of recording to the hard disk lasts 4 seconds and requires 5 power units, and to the magnetic tape - 2 seconds and 3 power units (the system has 10 power units in total).

Simulate the saving of 70 data packets.

Change the initial conditions for the arrival of data packets: 2 data packets come simultaneously. Simulate the system for 4 hours.

Step 2. Using the resulting and copied model, make the following changes using the Schedule module.

The data packets in each drive come in 0 hours (10 packets), 1 hour (3 packets), 2 hours (7 packets), 3 hours (5 packets) and 4 hours (7 packets).

Item 1. Each data center computer receives a data packet every 5 seconds, which must be processed and transferred to write to the common external storage. Data processing lasts 9 seconds and requires 5 conventional units of RAM (which is released after processing). Recording to external storage takes place in exclusive access mode and lasts 10 seconds. On each computer there are 7 units of RAM.

Model the processing of 300 data packets.

Change the initial conditions for the receipt of the data: 2 data packets arrive simultaneously. Simulate the operation of the system for 3 hours.

Step 2. Using the resulting and copied model, make the following changes using the Schedule module.

Data is sent to the computer every 15 minutes. The number of incoming data packets is determined by the following set: {10, 7, 5, 9, 3, 12, 6, 1, 6, 8, 3, 5}.

◘Extension 6

Item 1. In the computer running in the process control system, a sensor data block is sent every 8 seconds. The processing of a data block consists of three steps: writing, comparing

and the issuance of a control action. The length of the data block recording takes 2 seconds and 3 units of the computer resource (the entire computer consists of 4 resource units). The duration of the comparison takes 3 s and requires 2 units of the computer resource, according to the results of the comparison, a control action is generated. The duration of the control output takes 1 s and requires 1 unit of resource.

Model the operation of the system to process 350 data blocks.

Option 7

Item 1. There are two computers in the data center. Tasks for processing at the reception point are received every 2 minutes. Here within 12 minutes they are registered and sorted by the operator, after which each task goes to one of the computers. Approximately 70% of tasks as a result of their first processing on the computer detect errors of input, which are corrected by the operator immediately within 3 minutes. During the adjustment of the input, the task does not release the corresponding computer, and after the correction, its re-processing begins. The possibility of error in re-processing is eliminated, i.e., re-processing is always final. The duration of the computer in the processing of the task in each case is 10 minutes. In the center there is only one operator's workplace.

Model the process of functioning of the data center, provided that you need to process 100 tasks.

Item 1. The data processing system consists of two specialized devices and a common memory (2 resource units) that sequentially process incoming data packets.

The data block arrives every 7 seconds. First, the first device performs data analysis, the duration of which is 10 seconds, and data recording, which requires 1 unit of memory resource and 7 seconds. Then the second device performs its direct processing, which takes 2 seconds, after which the data recording also takes place, which requires 2 units of the memory resource and 9 seconds.

Model the processing of 100 data blocks.

Change the initial conditions for the receipt of the data: 2 data packets arrive simultaneously. Simulate the operation of the system for 3 hours.

Item 2. Using the resulting model and copied to the new file, make the following changes using the Schedule module.

The data is sent to the computer every 30 minutes. The number of incoming data packets is determined by the following set: {20, 15, 35, 10, 27, 14}.

◘ Option 10

Item 1. The specialized computer receives input of three types of tasks: A, B and C. Tasks of type A arrive every 15 seconds, type B every 10 seconds, type C once in 7 sec. All tasks are pre-recorded, the recording process takes 2 seconds. Then the tasks are submitted for processing, and each type of task for the allocated computer is the processing of the first level, it takes 10 seconds. After processing at the first level, the tasks are distributed to two second-level computers in a random manner, which corresponds to a probability of 50%. Each computer has 1 resource.

Model the processing of 200 jobs.
