Finding and replacing characters

When editing a document, you may need to replace some text fragments with others. To do this, use the Replace command (English Replace ) from the Home tab, the Edit group.

When you search and replace characters, you must enter a search pattern in the Find field, replace the replacement template in the Replace with ... field. You can click on the More button to define the search conditions, i.e. if necessary, select the Register case, Word only, Wildcards.

The program has the ability to replace not only characters, but also elements of formatting. To do this, by placing the cursor in the Find field, you must click the Format button and select the formatting elements (font, paragraph, language, style options) to search for them in the text, for example, to find the text (any) written in bold italics. Then place the cursor in the Replace pas ... field and select the formatting elements to replace (for example, replace it with italic text with double underline).

To determine additional search parameters in the program, the following options are available:

• All wordforms option allows you to find all the grammatical forms of the specified word ( run - running, run (but not: slider ])) ;

> the parameter Include prefix allows you to find, for example, the words strong> fencing and awards )

• The parameter Suffix suffix allows you to consider the endings of words when you search.

Once you have defined the parameters for searching and replacing, you can make the replacement yourself. In order to replace immediately all the characters that satisfy the given template (the so-called Global Replacement), the Replace All button is selected. To organize the step-by-step search and selective replacement, select the Find Next button, to find the template and replace the specific template - the Replace button.

The wildcard switch is selected to search for text fragments by pattern using special DOS characters (* and?). When the user clicks the button, the Special user can also specify special characters for searching and replacing (for example, so you can replace the end-of-paragraph character with a space, and then combine two separate paragraphs).

The No format button is used to reject the selected formatting parameters when searching and replacing, the cursor should be in the Find or Replace fields on ...

The Direction list field defines the scope of the template search for replacement.

In the production of search and replace, it should be remembered that if a fragment was selected in the text, then search and replacement of symbols is carried out only in it.
