The program Word for Windows supports the ability to automatically check the spelling of typed text. To do this, use the Spelling command from the Edit tab. The results of the check are displayed in the Spelling dialog.
The program checks each printed word with a dictionary, if there is no word in the dictionary, a suitable replacement is sought. Options for replacement are displayed in the Options field. The user can choose a word to replace from the proposed options.
You can replace an incorrectly written word when you click the Replace button, skip the system error message when you click the Skip button, or add an unknown word to the dictionary when you click the Add button. Unknown words by default are added to the additional user dictionary, which is named CUSTOM.DIC. When spelling is checked, several user dictionaries can be connected.
You can customize the spelling process by clicking on the Settings button or by selecting the Spelling category from the File - Options menu before performing the check. The spelling check conditions are determined by selecting the switches in the categories Adjusting the correction and formatting of the text. If a fragment was selected in the text, then the spelling check is carried out only in it with a subsequent request to continue the scan throughout the document.
For example, we often have to "clarify" program that some word is actually written in United States, and not in English, as it seemed to her, as a result of which the program emphasized it in red. To do this, perform the following steps: Review - category Language - Spelling checker language. This sequence of actions is recommended to be performed by recording a macro (first you must select the desired word), which you can then assign the corresponding button to the shortcut bar.
Organization of word transfer by syllable
The United States version of the word processor program MS Word allows you to carry words by syllables. The mode of organization of word transfer by syllables can be set before or after the beginning of typing, for this use the tab of the Page layout menu, then the category Page parameters and the Hyphenation command. In the opened dialog menu, select the Auto switch. If you select the Hyphenation settings command there, you can customize the process of word wrapping.
You can align paragraph boundaries by inserting the optional transfer symbol into words, which is inserted with the Ctrl + (-) key combination.
In this case, the part of the word located to the left of this symbol remains on the previous line, if there is enough space.
Using the AutoText function
One of the convenient editing tools in the word processor is the AutoText feature. Elements of auto-text can be frequently used fragments of text, for example, a sequence of numbers denoting the settlement account of the organization. Having generated the elements of autotext, you can get them from the program memory in the right place.
In order to create an element of autotext, you need to select a text fragment, select from the Insert tab the Text category, the Express Blocks command, the line Save selected fragment in the Express Blocks collection, enter the name of the AutoText item, and click OK. The autotext name can contain up to 32 characters, including spaces, although it's more convenient if the autotext name contains one or two characters. To insert an AutoText entry in the document, you must print its name and, without typing spaces, press F3. You can also select the Text category from the Insert tab, then use the Express Blocks command - the AutoText item, and it will be added to the document.
When using the AutoText function, you must remember that by default, AutoText entries are available to all documents. When creating an autotext element, you can specify that the item will be available only to a specific template (you need to use the Templates list box for this). You can print AutoText entries using the Print command from the File menu, in the Print All Pages ... list, select the AutoText Element item.
