Types of information resources on the Internet

Basic Internet genres

As almost all researchers of the Internet note, the work on constructing a functional-semantic typology of network information resources is far from complete. Until now, generally accepted criteria for the genre classification of Internet resources have not been worked out, there is no agreement on a number of key concepts of the hypertext form of information representation, in addition, the entire content network of the Network is in the making, constantly expanding and being transformed. The network information space is replenished with new types and forms of information exchange, it is actively influenced by new, specific types of communicative situations that arose in the framework of virtual communication. Nevertheless, in modern literature, you can still find quite successful attempts to genre classification of Internet resources, in particular, work in which the stratification of United States-language Internet genres is based on modern theoretical premises. One of such genre classifications of the information variety of the Internet, which is based on a thematic principle, is presented in the article by L. Yu. Ivanov "The Internet Language: Linguist Notes". According to this classification, all the content of the Network can be divided into the following large thematic blocks:

• general information genres, or news genres;

• scientific and educational genres;

• artistic and literary genres;

• entertaining genres;

• genres that make out non-special, non-professional communication

• business and commercial genres.

Each of these thematic blocks has its own set of formal characteristics, which has developed gradually in the process of functioning of these types of information on the Web into special, relatively stable systems. Let us consider in more detail each of the thematic groups of the classification of L. Yu. Ivanov.

Media

The Internet information space was able to integrate almost all traditional types of information, as well as create new types and forms of information. To the traditional socially significant information genres, which appeared on the Internet almost from the very beginning of mass distribution of network communication, all kinds of mass media (mass media) are included. On the Internet, such traditional newspaper and journalistic genres, as articles, editorials, news feeds, interviews, readers' letters, reviews and digests, thematic collections, opinion polls, comments , direct contacts with media persons, sports news reports, special issues (thematic), weather forecasts, news reports and other daily news information, advertising, etc. At the same time, all information materials can be presented in any modality of perception - like text, graphics, photo and video materials, sound, and also using special formats for people with disabilities (eg Braille, etc.). In addition to these traditional media genres, new forms of information services have sprung up and spread rapidly on the Internet - for example, Internet mailings and Internet subscriptions (news, publications, thematic collections, web links, etc.), various interactive forms of the author's information interaction and readers, as well as readers among themselves (survey, discussion, interview, exchange of comments, etc.). All these new opportunities for dissemination of information, which are typical for the Internet media, have become a serious competitor to traditional media, which had to radically reorganize their business processes, as a result, the vast majority of information companies and publishing houses have their virtual counterparts today. However, online media also quickly revealed very significant flaws, which, as it turned out, could make them socially dangerous - above all, this concerns the insufficiently regulated issue of responsibility for the reliability of published information. Therefore, the widespread and widespread availability of networked media, as well as the rapid growth in the number of Internet users, have contributed to the development of a variety of manipulation techniques based on the use of Internet services to influence public opinion.
