Study on Early on Years Provision and Practice

Throughout this theme I have learnt many things about pioneers, theorists and current thinkers who've had a big influence on the way to treat children in a setting up just like a nursery or college. These people experienced thoughts that stretch out from, corporal punishment to healthy configurations, participating in areas and timings. In my own presentation I selected two theorists, two pioneers and one current thinker, and folks I selected were; Robert Owen, The McMillan Sisters (Rachel and Margaret), Lev Vygotsky, Jean Piaget and Tina Bruce. I analysed their impact in the presentation of what it possessed on present day thinking and Early Years provision.

I have learnt about many techniques and ideas which may have been put in place across child settings across the UK, and what their influences were on current times. There have been many great ideas from the pioneers, theorist and current thinkers and in my own presentation I talked about these. Most of the pioneers and theorists i centered on were from the 19th hundred years or the first 20th hundred years, and from researching for my presentation I have become aware that lots of great ideas about things like corporal punishment, play, when the child will develop most, had come from more than 100 years ago, not just in the past couple of years. This surprised me as because of all the modern research that is performed today, and huge reform in education before 30 years, I would have thought that the majority of the current studies would have been a reason behind this, especially with corporal consequence. This personally has taken up some questions to why it needed so long to use this into children's options, especially universities, which not utilized until 1987.

One of considered a pioneer was allowing free play within nurseries, academic institutions and other locations. This notion came from the McMillan Sisters, who are arguably the most important pioneers, and had questionably the largest impact. I described this in my display, how it affects the children to develop creativeness and also how it's been implemented within the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). In my own display I analysed the impact and effect that it is wearing the children, the environment and the instructors or people who work in the institution or surroundings. I said that they were type in promoting playgrounds in the classes for the children to be creative when they were at school, and also never to just do uninteresting classes, but to be kinaesthetic and learn in all various ways possible. The McMillan sisters also were of the fact that the main element to the introduction of a kid was the years between 0-6. This motivated other pioneers and instructors to appreciate how vital teaching 0-6 calendar year olds was, and how it would shape their lives. Additionally it is now a central subject and feature in the EYFS.

Robert Owen was a pioneer from the past due 18th, early 19th century, who realised the value of a logical approach to teaching and assumed that there shouldn't be any punishment given out to children. I explained this in my presentation, by proclaiming that it is something that has been implemented into all adjustments that contain children in them which was used in 1987. Instead they were necessary to be informed at a school, which recommended that children would have a better education and society were more likely to have brighter people as a result. This had an enormous impact on population, throughout the united kingdom and almost all of the World, and today is part of Human Rights laws. From this I then found out that Robert Owen experienced a huge impact on education and stressed how important it was for a kid, and had affects to getting children from the work environment and into education.

Jean Piaget was a theorist from the 20th hundred years who believed that just how a child builds up was down to nature, and it was something they are delivered with, which related to formal and rational thinking. This lead to a whole lot development and research into the development of child psychology, and exactly how much importance will there be for put on a teacher or how much importance there is the child's gene pool. I thought this is quite a step of progress for child psychology and I believe he has started a real debate between 'Mother nature vs Nurture'. Piaget also created "Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development", which possessed four different phases to it; the Sensorimotor Stage (0-2 years), Pre-Operational Level (2-7 years), Concrete Operational Level (7+ years) and the Formal Operational Stage (11+ years). With this pattern he also stressed that the child cannot be required to move to each stage and that they have to be mentally ready to proceed. I explained in my presentation that as a result of this work that he completed and the pattern he made, many education curriculums or areas are now built on the idea that the kids should be trained towards their level, and if they are not ready, they will not proceed, which is similar to the countrywide curriculum in Britain. This has lead to work support surroundings being create across the World to help children who are attempting in education. From this I believe that Piaget has made one of the biggest impacts on children's development, mindset and children's settings.

Lev Vygotsky was a very influential theorist from the early 20th hundred years who based almost all of his focus on, thought, vocabulary and mindset and believed that development largely came from assistance from adults, words and the surroundings. From this work, Vygotsky experienced a big impact and I accepted this in my presentation by proclaiming that Vygotsky's impact out of this was that he advertised the instructors and teachers of the kids to talk with the children obviously and in a way that they might understand. This would lead to the kids becoming more attentive, and so make them more likely to consider information in, and therefore learn more. This is a great point, and has inspired so much in modern times, not just for schools and children settings, but for work places and customer care or service. He also pressured the value of the adult's role within the child's life. Later in the 20th century this point became very important, and it made people take notice that children need an adult effect in their lives to send them in the right way, and make sure they are become a nice person and the best they can be at whatever they wished to do. In my own presentation I stressed this as a very important point, which got a huge affect on world today.

Tina Bruce is a present-day thinker, that has a strong opinion in learning through the use of play through the introduction of experience using representation and games with rules. With this she's helped inspire and impact play in the Country wide Curriculums, which led to the Early Years as a child Reform for Education, in countries around the world from USA to New Zealand and from the united kingdom to Portugal. However I believe this is the hardest person to judge with her impact and impact, as her ideas are quite recent and for that reason you cannot observe how she has affected children's settings and exactly how children develop through her thoughts and observations. In my presentation I brought this point up, and even though she may involve some good ideas, especially her though of the use of play through the introduction of experience using representation and video games with rules, these ideas cannot be fully judged or merited, and therefore cannot be in comparison to the pioneers or theorists such as Robert Owen or Jean Piaget.

I learned a lot during this module, and found out just what a huge influence these folks had on modern culture and children's options for today. I really believe the individual who had the best impact was Jean Piaget as the work he have on his "Stages of Cognitive Development" acquired a monumental effect on today's countrywide curriculum, not simply in the united kingdom and Europe, however in all of those other World too. What I thought was ingenious about this pattern was that it wasn't set or establish, so if the child is not emotionally ready, they will not move which differs to other cycles with do not allow that leeway or flexibility. He also made great factors about rational and formal thinking which lead to numerous research to the development of child's mindset which is very helpful in contemporary society today, through the data of how better to coach, develop or teach the kids.
