The Clifton Strengths Finder Tool Education Essay

The Clifton Talents finder (produced by Gallup research) is an instrument used in positive psychology. It is useful in finding the natural skills you have been blessed with. Knowing these characteristics may be used to help determine another career. In my thoughts and opinions I received designs that were type in the life of a skill educator as well as one who wants to pursue their own art. Each theme responds with one another in relatively perfect harmony. My results of the Cliffton Advantages finder reassured me to pursue my future goals.

Artists lead a life of constant visible and physical excitement with their world that triggers personal creation. I believe that it is approximately making something ordinary into something thought provoking and astonishing. What has been created is ideally perfect in that artist's eye. The results of Strengths Quest strengthened my motive of pursuing the life of an artist and educator. Maximizer, Intellection, Insight, Ideation and Adaptability were my top five designs. Each shall be discussed with regards to a job in skill.

Discussion and Content

Maximizer is a theme centered on harnessing skills and working these to perfection. This is my top theme and two areas of my life that may apply to is how my artwork communicates and exactly how I take advantage of my time. Art means to me as my ideas expressed visually. In case the visual I have created doesn't match the idea in my brain Then i get very frustrated. Sometimes I see what I've made as excellence. Other times it is not the case. I have set a higher standard for myself because I want to be an becoming more popular 21st century contemporary artist. This will be useful because modern day art can be an extremely competitive

Not only in my art must i start to see the theme Maximizer, I also view it in could spend my time. I see time as a game where I must use enough time I've as efficiently as you possibly can. I know that is an art that I have managed with superiority and accuracy. With two careers taking over 40 time of my week away from me so that a complete time student I still deal with dean list marks, a steady marriage and volunteer work. Through practicum experience I have learned that fine art education is a 24/7 job. Art work educators are usually required to cater to all grades of the institution, thus setting up a workload heavier then most standard curriculum teachers. Not only that, the course period they have got with the kids is usually 45 minutes. Teachers must become effective and therefore must optimize their time to squeeze in as much as they can. Although I really believe this I understand that maximizing my time is not always good. Slow education is a way of educating that is doing away with students cramming for assessments and rushing their child years. In Compliment of Slowness, is a book on how population has created humans so obsessed with time that people lose our sense to be. Gradual education can create students that are 3rd party and passionate about learning. Instructors must stop obsessing on making every second matter. (Honore 2004) They must rate themselves and know what will be the essential lessons they would like to cover. (Manning 2003) In the foreseeable future I am going to want to learn how to decelerate and optimize the impressions my lessons leave on the kids.

Intellection is the theme of working out the mind. My thinking has been designed through the writings and teachings of transcendentalists, philosophers and environmentalist. Performers see things differently. There are numerous artists which may have spent their lives in deep reflection and also have taken visual records of the immense inner workings of our own universe. One designer would you this extremely well is Andy Goldsworthy. He is an artist that computes aspect with the elements. One kind of sculpture that he creates are four ft. egg shaped formations crafted from various materials such as slates of rock or dirt. In his documentary, Waterways and Tides, we see his sculpture being used to the ocean by the tide. The next day his sculpture reappears yet just a bit altered from its night time in the sea. To many it has no so this means, but to him it is a means for him to interact with the cycles of the planet earth. The thoughts I think are distinctively mine and therefore will make sense in my head. As an artist I will join my intellection with my artwork and it'll give interpretation to my entire life. Just as allowing the tide to ruin his sculpture, Goldsworthy detects the idea behind it much more powerful. (Goldsworthy 2004)

Thought has also allowed me to complete many of the tough times in my own life. When I possibly could not relate with people in senior high school and college I turned to a field, where I laid out under sunlight, skimmed books and created conclusions. This mental activity occurred of folks and relationships. Some say isolation is harmful; however I came out as a more robust individual. Just how I exhibit what has truly gone through my brain is through painting, drawing, and sculpture. Although my theme maximizer creates stress to help make the "best" artwork possible, the discharge of my intellection and ideas is a meditation practice.

Input was my third theme and it is the strength of collecting. A couple of few skill rooms in universities that don't cause you to think of expressing " holy hoarders that is clearly a lot of products. " Art Educators faced with small budgets holiday resort to scrimmaging resources to utilize with their students. (Manning 2003) Creative educators transform recycled cereal bins into ethnical masks from Africa. I understand that to go after art coaching to children I have to collect both tangible and un-tangible resources. When children need ideas using a stock of publications and art catalogs is crucial with their success. Fortunately this comes obviously if you ask me. On an individual level the theme source also enables my very own artwork. Gestalt is a form of art that involves forming a complete out of individual parts. As an example in my work, "Kick to the Face. " 2008 I accumulated old leather men's shoes from retail shops. I then produced a 3d old man's face and head wear with the fragments of leather. It became a reflection of the way the old are treated and neglected. Karen Bondarchuk (an art educator at American Michigan University or college) creates large Crows out of blown out car tire portions that she "scavenged" on interstates and freeways. Ideation is a fascination with forming ideas. It can be seen as imagination. These ideas I've created are ones that I'd wish to show to future students. Art work education has improved a lot over the years. It isn't art that they teach instead it is new perspectives on concerns of our world. Art teaches children to not accept what has been given them, rather soak in and then create their own perspectives. I want to teach this art of ideation. The bank method of educating can be comprehended through the image where each young one is a bucket and the teacher is judged successful about how full he/she fills each bucket with drinking water. (Freire 72) Freire fears that, "A lot more students work at storing the debris entrusted to them, the less they develop the critical awareness which would result from their intervention on the globe as transformers of this world. " (73) Few American teachers know the school of thought of Paulo Freire because our administration functions successful when its people do not question. Ideation can be an art form that I am going to want transfer to my students. .

I have chosen a future job that is unstable in this market. U. S. Government demands our children to be trained mathematics and sciences. Both very important subjects that needs to be learned but when art is left out of the formula we get poor children that be based upon medication, and are burned up out before they can be twenty. (Louv 2005) Although my goal is to truly have a steady skill education position, I am realistic and understand this might not happen. I am going to need to adapt in order to make a living. Overall art education has been weaned from the education system. I might have to scrap a wage by what I could create. I look forward to a shaky future. It means I am going to not end up like the countless other Americans that live robotic brain numbing routines they are not interested in.

It was really hard for my parents to comprehend that we am adaptable. Over and over I acquired the alert to avoid the art job. My maximizer theme calls for quality of myself so I have drive to get me where I want to be. Adaptability is also needed in a school room if I do get a job in the field. Freier recognized the particular one cannot force after their students the same information because if will not be effective. He telephone calls this sensation "narration sickness. " This means that it is necessary to adjust your curriculum to your students needs. (Freire 2000)

It is an excellent feeling to know that I have natural positive features that will allow me in the future I want. Chief executive Obama supports the arts since it is a unifier of folks and it does increase a student's self-esteem. It is good he believes in a well-balanced curriculum. (Duncan 2010) That means that there is hope that I will be able to utilize the positive advantages that I have in order to live a life a self-fulfilling life as an artist, thinker and educator.
