The movie is organized such that each one of the women has their own stories and issues that are facing them. The movie is based on the issues that the women were facing at the time of the development of the play in 1975. Time has evolved but the conditions that were facing the ladies in the 1970s remain relevant in this point in time. This are still the same issues that women are facing inside our current millennium. The movie slowly and gradually develops and all this women come together to openly share their troubles. The movie mainly revolves around the issues that the solid of nine African-American are facing in their lives. Crystal needed to suffer through this due to her husbands machismo that asserts to him that he had dominance over her since she was his better half and she was a woman. Costs also furthers the theme of male dominance since he forces himself on women so is Alices daddy who raped her and robbed her of her virginity. Male dominance in the movie has been developed on the lines of taking a look at women as erotic objects
