Personal qualities of a business person - Business ethics

Personal qualities of a business person

Entrepreneurship refers to those types of social activity, where often not professional knowledge and skills, but personal qualities in many ways determine the success and effectiveness of the work. Therefore, in the process of the business person's activity, not only professional development takes place, but also the upbringing of him as a person, the development of spiritual and moral qualities that he must show in his relationships with colleagues, partners, service recipients and buyers and even competitors.

The basis of the personality of a business person should be morality as an internal, spiritual quality of a person, the need to act in accordance with the requirements of ethics and morality, the ability to create good, to bring good to people.

The morality of a business person includes three essential components:

a) moral knowledge;

b) moral beliefs;

c) moral need. Let's briefly review their content.

Moral knowledge.

The basics of knowledge about morality is a business man receives in the process of education and upbringing. It should be noted that knowledge of moral norms does not yet mean morality of behavior, and therefore it must be recognized that they can only be used by a business person in part or not at all. In this case, one has to deal with a person with the so-called "double morality", a person who can theoretically perfectly navigate the issues of morality, including business ethics, but do not consider it compulsory to follow its requirements, citing the fact that he is surrounded by people who do not always act morally, but when they are guided by morality, then he will also become a highly moral person. The formation and development of high morality, attempts to make it an organic, inalienable property of one's personality require from man not only knowledge, but also constant, throughout life, work on oneself.

Moral Beliefs - is a business confidence based on experience and knowledge in the justice of moral demands. Moral beliefs are a higher stage in the development of the personality and consciousness, because they are based on a deep and comprehensive evaluation of the moral norms known to it, their verification by social practice, life and professional experience, their internal approval and organic acceptance as the only correct and possible. Moral beliefs require a business person to look at their activities from the point of view of the interests of the matter, to clarify the relation between the useful things that he does for society and his partners, and what he is obliged to do. Moral beliefs determine the theoretical and practical preparedness of a business person for activities, are the basis for his conscious attitude to his behavior and actions in business practice. They participate in the formation of strong-willed personality qualities and sustainable forms of moral response to the surrounding reality.

Moral Need - the highest degree of moral consciousness of a business person. It is characterized by a moral need to comply with ethical requirements. When compliance with these requirements becomes an internal need of a person, he organizes all his volitional and emotional qualities in accordance with ethical principles, directs efforts to solve ethically complex business problems precisely from the point of view of morality. In this case, compliance with the requirements of business ethics becomes a stable quality of personality, a powerful factor that mobilizes it to organize its behavior and activities, a matter of duty and conscience, honor and dignity. Being guided by moral needs, a business person can not sacrifice them and perform situationally conditioned as necessary actions, but do not meet, in his opinion, the criteria of good and evil.

Thus, moral knowledge, beliefs and needs are connected with practical activity and differently determine it. They are the basis for the formation of personal qualities of a business person and characterize him as a professional.

Personal qualities of a business person can be represented as a system of common specific and specific moral qualities.

These moral qualities are those spiritual supports that help to form a spiritually-moral portrait of a business person. Their stability and content are determined by his moral health, the nature of his actions in conditions of moral choice.

Let's briefly dwell on the specifics of some of them, which most fully reveal the value of the activity of a business person.

Honesty is the most important quality for a business person. It is impossible to establish normal relations with a business partner, if you do not have this quality, because the person who "once lied" in the small, it is impossible to trust in the big. However, honesty should manifest itself not only in words - honest ones must be in fact.

Tactfulness is a quality that involves the ability of a business person to foresee all the objective consequences of his actions or actions and their subjective perception by other people. Tactiness as a person's quality of a business person is necessary because his behavior always requires simultaneous observance of a multitude of moral requirements that may contradict each other. Accounting for all possible circumstances leading to undesirable consequences, the measure of usefulness of concrete actions and actions of a business person is determined by a professional tact, developed on the basis of tactfulness as a personal quality. The ability to build your actions in such a way that you do not unwittingly put someone in an awkward position, do not hurt the self-esteem of a person, do not humiliate her, is achieved through a comprehensive assessment of the contradictory situation, as well as trends and dynamics of its development. For a business person, due to professional specifics, one has to deal with a wide variety of people, including immoral, conflicting, irritated, over-proud, therefore observance of tactfulness in the work of a specialist is especially necessary.

Conscience of a business person is manifested as a sense of moral responsibility for one's behavior, the need to act in accordance with personal notions of good, good and justice and contains both rational and emotional components. Conscience as the quality of the individual is an individualized form of reflecting the requirements of society and the professional group. Conscience serves as a regulator of behavior, prompting a person to seek creative solutions and warning him against a purely formal approach to the implementation of moral and professional norms. When the situation (a set of external or internal conditions) turns out to be quite complex or non-standard, the conscience of the individual prompts him the right decision.

Equity should be constantly present in the relationship of the business person with the subordinates. A business person can have likes and dislikes, but they should not affect the quality of his business communication; whatever feelings a subordinate may cause, the attitude towards him must always be level, benevolent and attentive, and his problems should be adequately assessed. Equity is also necessary in relation to colleagues: each of their actions should receive a fair evaluation, without exaggeration or understatement of merits or shortcomings, taking into account both objective and subjective factors. The embodiment of the principle of fairness in the practice of business activity protects the business person from alienation from the collective.

Tolerance - is an obligatory quality in the relationships of a business person and an indispensable property of his personality. A business person should be tolerant if he is striving to reach an agreement with his partner. Tolerance is a moral quality that characterizes respect for the interests, beliefs, beliefs, habits of other people. It is based on a steady skill in accepting a person as he is, recognizing the one hundred right to be oneself, to have one's own habits, views, beliefs, to lead a way of life that he considers expedient if he does not take the nature of socially dangerous activity. Tolerance does not mean, however, approval by the business person of those negative ideas or actions of a partner or colleague that may have a negative impact on his life, work, inner circle or society as a whole.

Willpower is always necessary for a business person in his practical activities. Conscious willful aiming at the performance of objectively necessary actions, the ability not to retreat before the obstacles arising in the course of activity, and to bring the case to the end are qualities that develop as a result of work experience and awareness of one's professional duty, overcoming oneself and their weaknesses.

Exposure and self-control - are those qualities of the personality of the business person, without which his professional activities are impossible. Even if the business partner is annoyed and allows himself to throw out negative emotions, then in the interests of the matter he can not be answered the same. Moreover, one should not lose self-control, otherwise, having surrendered to the power of one's own emotions, one can not hear what the partner says, fail to perceive the necessary information and correctly evaluate it.

Mindfulness and observation are necessary for the business person in daily practice. Working with a business partner, you need to pay attention to the slightest changes in his mood, both positive and negative. A good specialist can always notice the client's uncertainty and hesitation, his confusion, depression, finally, a poor state of health or disagreement with the proposed decision, even if for some reason the objections are not expressed aloud. Observance and attentiveness of a business person will give him the opportunity, without losing time, to prove his rightness, more weighty arguments, to cheer the client, to support him. Finally, mindfulness and observation will help to catch the insincerity of the partner and push to check the information received.

It is embodied in the care of subordinates, the creation of favorable conditions for their life, a positive emotional mood, in training the skills and actions necessary for them, in the ability to provide the necessary assistance in time and in due measure. The kindness of a business person obliges it to act not only in its own interests, but also as having a certain advantage in social status, knowledge, material resources, take into account the interests of business partners, achieving a certain harmony in business relations.

Love for people - without it, a business person will never become a friend, a close person for a partner. However, as the proverb says: "It is easier to love all mankind than its neighbor," and in his professional activity, a business man is constantly confronted with the fact that not all partners are objectively capable of causing love to themselves. Nevertheless, one must be able to see in people positive qualities: they can become the basis of love for them. Working with a partner and determining its positive features and qualities, a business person should strive to uncover those moral grounds that can make the interaction between them truly effective.

Optimism. Entrepreneurship is one of the most difficult spheres of activity, as a business person in conditions of uncertainty, constant risks related to business, all appearance should demonstrate to partners and colleagues confidence in the future, and this can be done only by maintaining faith in the justice and triumph of good, bringing joy to people and inspiring hope for a better future.

Empathy (from Greek - empathy) - comprehension of the emotional state of another person in the form of empathy, sympathy, the ability to put yourself in the place of another . The ability to empathy in the form of empathy and empathy is a necessary feature of the person of a business person and is largely determined by the ability to put oneself in the place of a business partner. This quality develops with the accumulation of life and professional experience.

The aspiration for self-improvement should be manifested in the constant pursuit of professional growth, the acquisition of practical experience, skills, skills and new theoretical knowledge, as well as in improving the spiritual and moral, developing moral qualities and overcoming shortcomings, especially those that may adversely affect quality of work.
