New principles of working with editorial offices

The development of modern information channels and the emergence of new information consumers who want to get the information they need at a convenient time and place, requires a new workflow organization. That is why the process of media convergence is connected with new principles of organization of work of editorial offices, the appearance of new departments.

Internet Department

In many world and domestic publications, Internet departments ( web department ), online editorial offices, have appeared for a long time (about 10 years ago). They began to be created with the development of Internet versions of the media, when gradually the pages of newspapers on the Internet ceased to be a copy of the printed publication and turned into independent multimedia resources. The Internet edition can include only a few people or be a huge unit (Table 1.2).

Description

1-2 employees upload the materials to the site

Internet departments started with technology departments. 1-2 employees exhibited a copy of the newspaper on the site. Then on the sites began to publish articles that did not get into the newspaper because of lack of space.

The site has the opportunity to comment on the article. A journalist is interested in who and how he reads, he can understand what materials are more interesting, which ones are less. He can go to the authorities and, based on statistics, say that this should be written about, and this topic should be closed

Allocation of individual journalists who prepare news for the website

In the newspaper Kommersant noticed that the peak of attendance of the site falls on 10-11 am, after which there is a rather sharp decline - the reader did not return to the site during the day. Therefore, since 2006 the newspaper began to exhibit on the site at two o'clock in the morning, it hung there until 12 o'clock in the afternoon. After 12 hours the journalists of the Internet department started to add the latest news to the site. For three years the attendance of the site after 12 pm increased significantly.

Since 2010, a large segment of the site's materials is an information picture of the day. An operational response group has appeared, which monitors information from news agencies. Depending on the news, a decision is made whether to prepare a large amount of material that will be written by an industry journalist or limited to news on a website prepared by the rapid reaction service.

In some editorial offices, they did not select individual journalists to prepare news for the site and relay news from news agencies. It is possible to implement a new editorial policy, according to which any news first gets to the Web-first policy site.

Since 2009, in the editorial office of the newspaper "Labor" when working out an information motive, each material passes through three stages:

First, in the form of news, he gets to the website of the newspaper, then, in details, appears an expanded article in the Internet version. Finally, the third stage - on the basis of the information guide, analytical material is created. It is published in the printed version of "Labor", after the publication of the issue is also put on the site.

The scheme allows you to react quickly to the news, highlight it from all sides. In addition, due to prompt response and the number of references to the information guide, the internal thematic citation index (TIC) of the site is increasing

The selection of individual journalists who prepare additional materials for the site (in addition to news), are engaged in editing newspaper materials

In addition to news, site staff can prepare additional materials, for example, online interviews: a newspaper editorial helps to find newsmakers who answer readers' questions on a topic - answers are posted on the site. Specifically for the site, you can make translated materials, usually acting as comments to the news. The employees of the Internet department edit the newspaper materials: if necessary, the part of the note is deleted if it has lost its relevance and a new version of the material is already published from the editorial office of the site.

You can use freelance correspondents to fill the site, which provide information on a different basis.

In the Internet department there are graduating editors (they form the face of the main and internal pages of the site, order editorial journalists to develop topics, monitor the work of newsmen, "pack" the content, on other materials on the topic, select video, photo materials), a bild-editor that adds

to the materials on the site additional photos (possibly with captions). Despite the fact that the site of the publication is gradually becoming an independent information resource, it can be accessed by a newspaper number.

In Nova Gazeta first began to spread on the site at one o'clock in the morning a leaflet (fresh issue of the newspaper) in PDF format

Allocation of additional employees who are engaged in the preparation of audiovisual materials

As a rule, these are professional TV men with experience in television. They do not write text materials - just creating video materials

The Internet department is a separate structure, including employees preparing materials for the Internet version and printed edition. Newspaper journalists in turn can make original materials for the site

In the online edition of the newspaper "Sport-Express Now there are 11 people working: newsmen, who also write materials in other genres, and produce editors. If only the correspondent from the newspaper is present at the event, he first transmits information for the Internet, then writes the material in the newspaper. If the event is covered by newsmen and journalists from the Internet edition, then everyone writes for their unit. If on the event there are only employees of the Internet version (which happens less often), they also write for the newspaper

Continuous cycle department

The online department today often includes continuous-cycle news departments or departments of "hot" (Breaking News Desks/Continuous News Desks) (Fig. 1.1).

Journalists of the information departments of the continuous cycle work 24 hours a day, seven days a week and, as a rule, prepare text materials for the site. In some publications, the production of "hot" The news also extends to mobile media, TV and radio. Departments of hot news have appeared in the last few years in many foreign publications, most newspaper sites have "hot" news is the most visited part of the content.

German regional newspaper "Sudkurier ( Southern Courier ). This edition in 2007 created its own information service for the preparation of the latest news -

items that are broadcast on the mobile phone screen ("Sudkurier - Blitz"/"SK-Blitz"). So, for example, the user of this service receives the results of the last football match immediately after the final whistle. This is the right move, as in Germany football is very popular and such a service will always be in demand.

Sudkurier - Blitz service includes primarily local news (70% of all news). The remaining 30% - regional news, domestic political news, sports news. Users of sports news have a choice of 27 different national, regional or local football leagues. For a monthly fee, the user receives about 30 messages per month with the most important news in this area. The news for the mobile version is written directly by the journalists of the editorial "Sudkurier".
