The reason for this paper is to go over the characteristics chosen inside our group's Overcoat of Arms task and why these qualities symbolize Nursing. Knowledge, communication, critical thinking, nurturing, advocacy, and authority are the characteristics being chosen in the Overcoat of Arms project. The components and symbols of the Cover of Arms will also be explained at the ultimate part of this paper

First of all, knowledge is the essential foundation of the art work of medical. Knowledge helps a nurse think critically and make decisions during their practice. You will discover two types of knowledge: empirical and particular knowledge. A nurse acquires empirical knowledge at university which includes knowledge of anatomy, physiology, way physiology, and epidemiology. Empirical knowledge can be applied directly to patients. Particular knowledge is unique to each patient situation. For example, if a patient has kidney inability, regarding to empirical knowledge a nurse indicate the patient have a kidney transplant. On the other side, the nurse recognizes the patients' faith makes the patient reluctant to acquire any organs transplantation, which means nurse would create different medical interventions for the patient. Through lifelong learning, a nurse can acquire more nursing knowledge which can help them stand out in their practice (Cooper, 2001).

Communication is another important quality of nursing. It's important that a nurse use communication skills to establish a therapeutic romance with his or her patients. Through positively tuning in and inquiry a nurse will get out clients needs and identify goals. The nurse then must speak that information back to her patient and begin establishing realistic anticipations of recovery. Nurses also work with many other coworkers so effective communication is key to maintaining an efficient healthcare team (Potter &Perry, 2009).

Critical thinking stresses the utilization of reasoning and reasoning to make decisions. That is an important quality in medical because through the good care of patients, nurses are constantly making decisions that affect patient health. (Forneris 1 & McAlpine, 2009) For example, Mrs. Smith, a 50 season old woman comes to visit a nurse with a swollen right leg. The nurse must thinking critically to get the reason behind Mrs. Smith's wounded leg. The nurse will ask questions related to Mrs. Smith's prior health problems to determine what led to the injured knee, and for her to ranking the pain from 0 to 10. After Mrs. Smith responds, the nurse has to analyze the data and might clarify to Mrs. Smith that she may apply some ointment to improve the pain along with doing endurance exercises. Fourteen days later, Mrs. Smith is asked another to see if the exercise and ointment helped. Critical thinking helps nurses identify patient's unique problems and assist nurses with arranging a special nursing involvement for the individual and evaluate if the procedure directed at clients have been effective.

Caring is very important to nursing because caring behavior shown by a nurse can make patients optimistic and increase their healing up process. Caring habit also implies that nurses have a reference to the patient and makes the patient feel that he is not alone. Insurance agencies a nurse using knowledge customized to look after them, patients can gain a sense of comfort. In addition, regarding to Watson, a caring relationship and caring environment can promote real human dignity and integrity, empower patient's personal awareness and do it yourself knowledge which will affect healing positively (Watson, 2005).

In medical treatment system, patients are susceptible because their health is less than optimal and they do not have the knowledge that healthcare professionals have regarding the treatment they acquire. This creates an unequal power between the health care system and the individual. Therefore it is nurse's responsibility to be an advocate for his or her patients needs and speak out for the individual for the most ideal intervention, especially where there's a dispute among medical treatment team (Steefel, 2008).

Leadership is important to medical since it is an excellent that ensures and encourages the best medical care to the general public. When a nurse finds an inappropriate situation in the health care system that could harm the general public, a nurse with control characteristics would come out and actively solve the condition in order to safeguard the general public interest. A nurse with control attributes can also demonstrate and educate other new nurses about nursing integrity and professionalism. A nurse innovator could work in medical care unit and use her knowledge to direct other healthcare members to solve conflicts within the health care system, making certain the general public can enjoy better health care service (CNO, 2002).

The six icons inside our group's coating of arm are puzzle items, a torch, a sheep skin area scroll, a heart with hands of different race, a book with key, and an equilibrium. All the icons are sitting on an aqua colored shield. There's a pink shell with four pearls at the apex of the shield. In the center of the shield is a hexagon coupled with two triangles hooking up all six symbols on the cover of arms. There's also two brown solid wood ladders on each aspect of the shield.

Puzzle bits are a symbol of critical thinking. For the reason that a person has to think carefully to place all the puzzle bits together. It is merely like how nurses think critically to place all the bits of patient information collectively and examine them to be able to provide appropriate good care to the patient. The torch symbolizes authority. The individual who retains the torch requires initiative to walk before the crowd and uses the light to guide the fans. The scroll is a symbol of communication since in the historic times, Kings communicated over long ranges by writing communications on the scroll and sending it to his representatives. A heart and soul with hands of different races symbolizes caring, as nurses care for others including patients and their family, regardless of their qualifications and race. The reserve with key symbolizes knowledge. The key helps people start the entrance doors of knowledge. The total amount is a symbol of advocacy because nurses have to be an advocate for his or her clients and also to help balance the energy between susceptible patients and health care pros. The ladders symbolize Benner's five stages of skill acquisition a nurse will undergo, from amateur to expert.

In summary, my knowledge of nursing has changed by are more rounded since semester. Before I thought nursing simply methods to take care of the problem affecting patients, but now I understand that nurses take care of the patients overall physical condition. Doing this properly requires all of the skills described in this essay.
