Time in our time has become not only time, but time time. How to reach the optimal time in eDuculation? Notice, not the minimum, which in principle is impossible, but the optimal ones, so that there is no lack of time and there is no overspending. To allow time to be allocated just as much as necessary for full-fledged assimilation in accordance with the laws of brain activity. The solution to this problem is of great practical importance.

So how much time does the student need to study the material of a given amount (volume) and quality (difficulty, complexity) in order to achieve the maximum (in the given conditions) training indicator? The answer to this question was obtained in the author's studies of this textbook in the 1970s-1980s. The hypothesis was confirmed: in a one-time act of education productivity increases with increasing learning time, but not unlimitedly, but only up to a certain limit, after which the increase in time does not lead to better results (rice 22).

In other words, there is some optimal learning time (Top). To fix this limit means to avoid unnecessary costs, over-expenditure of time. It is impossible to admit, when time goes on, and the results do not grow any more.

To establish the dependence, it is necessary to know the characteristics of the educational material, primarily its quantity and quality, the trainee's characteristics, and time. The amount of training material was measured in ISET; the difficulty (subjective characteristic) and the complexity of the text (objective characteristic) - in special units, as well as the learning ability of schoolchildren, for determining which the rate of progress in learning was used (see below).

The so-called minimum required time (hereinafter - EOM) is investigated and introduced. The EOM is the time required for one-time (one-time) text reading, i.e. working out the text only once. It is clear that under the conditions of the EOM one can not achieve complete assimilation of information. It is established that after a one-time reading of the text, the digestion index reaches 20-25% on average. Schoolchildren with high rates of memory and learning ability achieve a learning achievement of 60-70%, and students with low characteristics of these qualities - barely 10-15%.

The highest rates of assimilation are achieved in conditions of a threefold increase in the EOM. This time is just enough to carefully read the text once, then read it again, highlighting key concepts and connections between them, then skim through the material a third time, making a memory map.

The empirical formula for calculating the optimal time is derived:

T opt = T Mnv + K T mnv,

where T opt - the optimal duration of training; T mnv - the minimum time required; K is the learning factor for different groups of schoolchildren. For the weak K = 1.6-1.9; for medium K - 1,3-1,5; for strong K - 1,1-1,2.

To optimize the time, it is sufficient to know the EOM index. It is easy to obtain by conducting a controlled reading of the text by a group of schoolchildren, and then averaging the result.
