Emotional qualities of a person, Properties and types...

Emotional personality qualities

Throughout life, on the basis of environmental and genetic prerequisites, emotional features and properties are formed in a person.

The emotional characteristics of a person include his emotional reactivity, excitability, affectation, emotional stability, the general emotional tone, the power of emotional reactions and their external expression - expressiveness. These properties most depend on the type of higher nervous activity of a person.

However, due to education, emotional characteristics can be significantly changed. Man is accustomed to restrain immediate emotional manifestations, resorts to their disguise and imitation, forms emotional stability, tolerance (tolerance) and the ability to transfer difficulties. Not everyone succeeds in the same measure. In some, great emotional excitability is combined with great emotional stability, in others - emotional excitability often leads to emotional breakdowns, loss of self-control. In some people, the emotional sphere is extremely limited. Possible manifestations of emotional anomaly - emotional insensitivity.

Emotional qualities form an emotional type of personality. Distinctive nature emotional, sentimental, passionate and frigid (cold).

People of emotional type are easily excitable, emotionally impressionable, impulsive. They deeply experience their actions, they often repent. But in the future again allow impulsive failures.

People of the sentimental type are inclined to self-contemplation. They look to the whole world through the prism of their emotional states. These are sensitive-passive types. They can sin, shedding tears. Their feelings are directed to themselves. They inherent self-admiration for their feelings.

Passionate characters are emotionally impetuous, strive for action, persevere in achieving goals. They live a tense, emotionally charged life, they constantly have an object of passion. They spend a lot of energy in full measure. The subjects of their passions can be both significant, worthy, and insignificant.

Emotional-frigid - people of cold reason. Their emotional manifestations are minimal, they are not able to penetrate the emotional state of other people to foresee their possible emotional reactions in certain situations. They lack feelings of empathy.

Owning one's emotions does not mean being insensitive, which means owning emotional reactions. The trouble is persistently tolerated by those who do not allow external manifestations at the same time. Not a very brave man, standing in a proud pose and taking a bellicose look at the enemy's challenge, is already the winner of his timidity. A brave person is not devoid of a sense of fear - he is gifted with power over fear. Possession of one's feelings is not the suppression of them, but the inclusion in the complex system of emotional-volitional regulation, giving them an appropriate direction.

Properties and types of emotions

In terms of content identity, emotions are divided into the following types:

1) emotional tone;

2) emotional response;

3) the mood;

4) conflicting emotional states: stress, affect, frustration;

5) higher emotions - feelings.

Different sensations (smells, colors, sounds, etc.) are pleasant, neutral or unpleasant for us. Emotional tone of sensation is our attitude to the quality of sensation. We are pleased with the smell of flowers, the sound of the surf, the color of the sky at sunset, but the smell of rot, the grinding of brakes is unpleasant. To individual irritants there is even an organic morbid aversion - idiosyncrasy (for example, to sounds emitted by a metal object rasping through the glass).

The emotional attitude to vital influences is inherited. This allows you to react to it when the body first meets the malicious object. The emotional tone of various influences, being fixed in memory, is then included in various perceptions and representations.

Emotional memory, emotional experience of a person play an essential role in those cases when it is necessary to act in conditions of deficiency of conceptual information.

Emotional response is an operational emotional response to current changes in the subject environment. You have seen a beautiful landscape - there is an emotional response. Emotional response is determined by the emotional excitability of a person, his emotional tone.

The ability for emotional harmony depends on the conditions of upbringing. People who were brought up in conditions of a lack of emotions or satiety with emotional contacts, become incapable of emotional empathy.

A mood is a stable emotional state conditioned by the situation, which strengthens or weakens mental activity. The mood determines the general tone (order) of human life. It depends on success or failure in work, comfortable or uncomfortable environment, the level of culture in relations between people, well-being, etc. The mood is always causally conditioned, although we can not always accurately identify the cause of a good or bad mood.

In the mood, the stimulating function of emotions and feelings, their influence on human activity, is manifested. The mood, like all other emotional states, can be positive or negative, have a certain intensity, severity, tension and stability.

High level of mental activity under the influence of positive emotions is called inspiration, low - apathy. It is necessary to cherish a good mood, to cultivate it. It stimulates active and fruitful activity, improves relations between people. A person can to a certain extent regulate his mood, concentrating his consciousness on the positive aspects of life, the prospects for improving it.

People who have a gloomy, depressed mood, are called pessimists, joyful, upbeat - optimists. Pessimists do not try to block a bad mood; moreover, like the influenza virus, they can "infect" surrounded by despondency and pessimism.
