Test "Constructive drawing of a person from geometric figures"...

1.7.2. Test "Constructive drawing of a person from geometric figures"

The purpose of the test is to identify individual typological differences.

You need to draw a human figure made up of ten elements, among which there may be triangles, circles, squares. You can increase or decrease these elements (geometric shapes) in size, overlap each other as needed. It is important that all three of these elements are present in the image of the person, and the sum of the total number of figures used is 10. If you used more figures when drawing, then you need to cross out the extra ones; if you use figures smaller than ten, you need to finish the missing ones. Draw a picture of the instruction.

The subject is offered three sheets of paper measuring 10x10 cm, each sheet is numbered and signed. On sheet No. 1 the first test pattern is executed, on sheet No. 2 - the second, on sheet No. 3 - the third. After the three figures are executed, the data is processed. If the instruction is violated, the material is not processed.

The data is processed as follows. Counts the number of triangles, circles and squares spent in the image of the man (for each figure separately). The result is written in the form of three-digit numbers, where hundreds denote the number of triangles, tens - the number of circles, units - the number of squares. These three-digit numbers constitute the so-called formula of the figure, by which the subjects are assigned to the corresponding types and subtypes shown in Table. 1.3.

Empirical studies in which more than 2,000 drawings were obtained and analyzed showed that the ratio of various elements in constructive patterns is not accidental. The analysis allows us to distinguish eight basic types, which correspond to the typological characteristics described below.

Table 1.3. The system of individual psychological differences, revealed in the implementation of constructive drawings based on the preference of geometric figures

The interpretation of the test is based on the fact that the geometric shapes used in the drawings differ in their semantics. A triangle is usually referred to as "acute", "offensive" figure associated with the male principle. Circle - a streamlined figure, more consonant with compassion, gentleness, roundness, femininity. Of the elements of the square form, constructing something is easier than from the others, so the square, the rectangle is interpreted as a specifically technical constructive figure, the "technical module". The typology, based on the preference for geometric figures, makes it possible to form a kind of "system" individual-typological differences.

Count the number of answers that match the key, and multiply by 5. The result allows you to determine the psychological direction of your personality:

• 0-35 points - introversion;

• 36-65 points - Ambition

• 66-100 points - extraversion.
