A child's self esteem is vital in determining the continuing future of the child. A child must expand with a good self esteem. Self-confidence is afflicted by poverty. Poverty impacts the socio-economic welfare of the family which affects the child. Self esteem is the main element driving element in a child's achievement in life. For a child to succeed he will need to have an optimistic sense of self-confidence. A child with low self esteem is often out competed by all of those other children with positive self esteem. Self-confidence can make one either to do well or poorly in every day activities.

On the other palm, poverty is the lack of finances to meet the daily financial commitments. An unhealthy person, according to the United Nations is someone who lives below a $1 per day. Poverty affects a person's ability to accommodate and provide the daily basic needs. Children borne out of poor individuals are characterized with low self-confidence. This is because the parents are not in a position to provide for them the daily basic needs as the other children from the well off young families.

When at school, these children are teased on the social-economic welfare minimizing further their sense of self-esteem. When such children develop up with such low self-confidence, they don't compete well because these were poorly prepared for the future due poor backdrop.
